Throughout the year, local Soquel Mexican restaurant owner Cheryl Marquez creates special menus that explore different tastes of Mexico. From traditional moles and authentic tamales to the personal recipes of Frida Kahlo and the exotic flavors of cactus, each special menu explores Mexican food rarely, if ever, seen in American restaurants.
The Optunia cactus (Nopale) has been a staple of the Mexican diet from the time of the Aztecs to the present day. Using the nutritious cactus paddles and it’s fruit, the Prickly Pear, we are able to offer a variety of unusual tastes, including the ruby red and treasured Prickly Pear Margarita. Our menu includes at least nine different moles.
